It’s easy to fall into the trap of taking your significant other for granted, but it's a habit we all need to stop. Here are some practical ways to avoid putting your partner on the back burner.
🔝 Re-evaluate Your Priorities: Sit down and re-assess your priorities to make room for your partner.
⏱ Schedule Time for Connection: Scheduling marriage meetings and date nights is one of the best things you can do for your relation- ship. These meetings can be a cup of coffee in the morning or a late- night popcorn-in-bed moment.
🚫 No Tech: Don’t get distracted by devices when you’re with your partner. Opt for an intentional connection instead.
🛌 Have the Same Bedtime: You don’t have to go to sleep at the same time, but try getting in bed with your husband around the same time.
👩❤️👨 Remember You’re a Team: Don’t forget who’s on your side at the end of the day.
🍋Lemon Parenting: How to Avoid Over-Gifting Your Kiddos This Year (and From Now on) 🎁
If you’ve over-gifted your kiddo in the past, or you’re in danger of doing it this year, here are some practical steps to avoid this conundrum.
Focus on Holiday Traditions 🌲
When planning for the next month, create meaningful holiday memories and traditions. These moments are more precious than any gift they could find under a tree.
Give Experiences Instead of Gifts 🎢
Consider making a family trip or an experience one of your kid’s big gifts. They can still unwrap something, like the tickets or a map of where you’re going, but the gift will focus on family, rather than the individual.
Focus on Quality Over Quantity 🎁
Don’t focus on filling stockings or present bags, focus on meaningful and lasting Gifts. Get your children quality gifts that will last a long time.
Make a Budget and a List 📝
Before going shopping, create a practical budget for your Christmas spending and make a list of quality gifts to give your kids.
Donate! 💌
Donating unused items clears valuable space in your house and helps your kids think about the reason for the season. Charities and causes always need help during this time of year. You can turn donating into a holiday tradition!
Your Guide to Getting a Raise During This Year’s Performance Review Season 💰
Performance reviews are always nerve-wracking, especially for all of us over-achievers, but there are a few ways you can set yourself up for success and potentially get a raise this season.
Do Your Research
Before your performance review, list everything you’ve accomplished in the last year and bring it up in the meeting. If you can, do the math on how successful some of your work and projects have been.
Be Truthful
While you might feel like you’re on trial during the review, it’s also a great time to ask your boss questions or share any concerns you’ve had in the past year. This isn’t a time to complain, necessarily, but it is a time to get clarity.
Have a Goal in Mind
Think about if there’s something you want out of your performance review. Do you want a title change? A raise? Reflect on your goals, decide if they’re achievable, and then go into your review with a focused mindset.
Plan Ahead
If you’re bringing complaints or suggesting changes at your performance review, make sure to have a solution.
Practice What You’re Going to Say
If you’re nervous about your meeting, practice it. Write down your successes and statistics, then practice a faux performance review with your co-worker.
Don’t Get in Your Head
Don’t let your performance review control your life and take over your thoughts. It’s just another meeting, it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t go perfectly.
🍋 Lemon DIY: Your Guide to All-Things Elf on the Shelf 🧝
Elf on the Shelf has become a tradition for most families. There are several ways to do it, but most families let the Elf ‘spy’ for Santa to see if their kids should be on the naughty or nice list. Other families enjoy putting their Elves in hilarious situations and letting their kids find him every morning.
Rules for Elf on the Shelf
Elf on the Shelf is a great way to incorporate magic into the holiday season, but there are some official rules you might want to abide by before you jump into it:
If kids touch the Elf, he will lose his magic.
If kids touch the Elf, they have to write an apology letter to Santa and sprinkle cinnamon on the Elf before they go to bed. Cinnamon is a vitamin for scout elves.
You and your family can make your own rules (and name) for your Elf to make this Christmas the most magical time!
