How to Make Your Marriage a Priority as a Mother šŸ’Œ

Marriage secrets part 10 šŸŒæšŸ¤ by Jessica Alba for Tony Gonzalez #marriagesecrets #marriage #relationships #relationshipadvice #marriagegoals

Prioritizing your relationship with your spouse is one of the most integral things moms can do for their mental health and their partners. Being a parent doesn’t mean you’re not also a partner.

When you and your spouse come together in understanding and love to raise your kids, that partnership is a positive influence for your little ones and makes parenting less stressful.

Here are a few actionable steps to strengthen the bond between you and your partner.

1. Be IntentionašŸ‘‘

Be intentional about carving out weekly time for you and your spouse to be together. This could look like weekly marriage meetings, date nights, or no-kid dinners. Plan something that honors and blesses both of you.

2. Plan Non-Negotiable Dates šŸ“†

No matter how much you love your partner, some of your plans get rescheduled. Plan one date a month that is foolproof. Book the babysitter, write it in red on the calendar, and don’t cancel it. Date nights usually get pushed to the side, don't let that happen.

3. Take Advantage of Your Kid’s Extracurriculars šŸ‘©ā€ā¤ļøā€šŸ‘Ø

It’s okay to skip a soccer game and go on a date. You’re not a bad mom for letting your friends take your kids to practice and giving you a night off. Your kid’s extracurriculars are guaranteed alone time with your partner. Celebrate them!

4. Take Time to Learn About Your Partner šŸ—£

Discover each other’s love languages and Enneagram numbers. Ask difficult questions that make the other think. This is not only a creative way to spend quality time together, but it will also help you learn to love them more. Discover each other’s love languages and Enneagram numbers. There’s a Completely ā€˜Logical’ Reason Why Your Toddler Does These Strange Things šŸ‘¶šŸ½

What if we told you there’s a logical reason why your toddler behaves so strangely? Dr. Whitney Casares, pediatrician, author of Doing It All, and Gerber pediatric consultant is here to save the day (and our sanity) by explaining why our toddlers do these crazy things.

Eating Dirt, Licking the Couch, and Guzzling Bathwater

Although our logical brains want to explain the dangers of germs to our little ones, they want to explore. Don’t let your little one ingest too much while, but a sip of bathwater won’t kill them.

Choosing a Favorite Parent

While this one hurts, it’s natural for your toddler to prioritize one parent, based on how much time they spend with them. Casares suggests parents spend uninterrupted time with their little ones if they notice this pattern.

Putting Things Up Their Nose

Another form of exploration! If you notice your toddler sticking smaller objects up their nose, explain the dangers and suggest putting things in their pockets instead.

Banging Their Heads on Objects

Toddlers can't regulate emotions, so they lash out and hit their heads during tantrums. When your little one starts banging their head on things, redirect their attention to a less damaging coping mechanism.

Naked Baby Alert!

If your toddler tends to strip down, don't worry. Awkward as it may be, this is natural behavior. Teach your toddler that clothes are necessary when in public.

Running Away

If your toddler runs away, remember they’re learning their limits and the difference between right and wrong. Teach them to stay close to you while out and about.

Getting Physical

No, your toddler is not a bully, they just have a lot of emotions. Getting into physical fights is a part of the developmental phase. Just make sure to teach them that fighting is never okay.

Reading or Watching the Same Thing Over and Over Again

While you might get sick of reading ā€œGoodnight, Moonā€ for the third time tonight, this is a self-soothing habit that even adults are guilty of. They’re just watching their comfort show for the seventh time -- it’s natural!
