How to Motherhood: What to Do When Your Toddler Won’t Stay in Bed 🛌

The start of the weekend means more time in bed for you, right? Not if your toddler won’t stay in bed! If you’re transitioning your little one from their crib into a ‘big kid’ bed, you might have to face a few late nights of your kids climbing out of their bed and into yours.

1. Reevaluate the Schedule

Although your toddler shouldn’t dictate their sleep schedule, if they’re constantly popping out of bed, they may not be tired when you’re tucking them in. Make sure their set bedtime isn’t too early and, if they take an afternoon nap, make sure it’s not too late in the day. Your toddler needs at least five hours in between their nap and their bedtime.

2. Don’t Over-Complicate the Bedtime Routine

Simple routines help toddlers understand the flow of the day. Don’t ask your toddler to go through an extensive routine before they get in bed. Instead, limit their nighttime routine to 15-30 minutes.

3. Create a Reward System

If you think that your toddler is acting out before bed, maybe try some positive reinforcement tactics. Create a sticker chart or another kind of reward system where you can celebrate your toddler’s good behavior.

4. Possibly Implement Consequences

If your toddler continues to act out at bedtime and nothing seems to work, it might be time to implement some consequences. These consequences can range from restricting their TV privileges to locking your door so they’re not tempted to sneak in.

5. Don’t Start a Conversation

Instead of lecturing your toddler when they get out of bed, silently walk them back to their room and tuck them in. You can talk about it in the morning, but striking up a conversation with your little one will only wake them up more and encourage bad behavior.

6. Consider a Nightlight or Meditation App

Many toddlers stay up late at night because they’re scared of the dark or they can’t quiet their minds. Yes, even little ones have racing thoughts! Talk to your toddler about why they can’t stay in bed and seek to remedy that. If they’re scared, invest in a night light. If their thoughts get loud, consider subscribing to a meditation app like Headspace, which has Sesame Street characters leading your children’s meditation.

🍋 Lemon Celeb: Do Pink Clothes Mean the Baby is a Girl? Not for Rihanna 🎀👶🏽

The first photos of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s son have dropped and fans are confused. The stars’ son is dressed in a pink outfit and adorably named Riot Rose Mayers. Even though the couple has confirmed that their baby is a boy, several fans were confused by the ‘feminine’ middle name and the choice of color.

Although she did not directly respond, Rihanna commented on photographer Miles Diggs’ post saying, “The Mayers Boyz.” The singer has also publicly renounced gender norms for her children. Even though Riot Rose might not be blue, it’s obvious that he’s already one of the most fashionable babies on the block.
