To the Mom Who Feels Like She’s Failing at Christmas ❤️

If you’re facing the holiday blues in any way this season, we want you to know that we see you and you’re doing an amazing job.

Holidays are hard! Being a mother is difficult by itself, but the added stress of Christmas shopping, cookie baking, matching sweater finding, churchgoing, and all of the other ‘fun’ and ‘festive’ activities have quickly become necessities.

It’s a lot. And I know I’m not the only mama who has cried in her car this season because she’s not sure if she’s doing enough

But that begs the question, what is enough?

Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves to make every day of the season magical and unforgettable for our kids

While it is a treat and an honor to make magic for our kids during this season, it’s also easy to forget about the true meaning of the season as we’re scrambling to make magic.

As we grow up and create our own traditions with our families, it’s natural for some years to feel a little off. After all, you’re no longer that little girl waiting for Santa. Now, you are Santa. And while that is magical and wonderful, Santa has a lot of pressure during this time of the year.

Remember that Christmas is about love, joy, and peace. It doesn’t matter how many gifts are under the tree, what your family’s matching pajamas look like, or how many times you went ice skating.

Holiday Activities To Get Your Whole Family in the Festive Spirit ⛸️

Thankfully, there is still time to embrace the holiday spirit with your family. If you’re searching for ideas to bring all the holly and jolly feels to your family, start with these!

✉️ Make DIY Holiday Cards

Grab all the craft supplies, turn on the Christmas music, and make some holiday cards! You can also check if your local nursing home or hospital is accepting cards if you want to spread holiday cheer!

⛸️ Go Ice Skating

Ice skating is one of the most Hallmark-coded traditions you can introduce to your family this year, and we’re all for it. Most towns have a local rink that offers community skating times. Several ‘freelance’ rinks pop up in malls and shopping centers.

💝 Volunteer

One of the best ways to get into the spirit of things is to volunteer your time and energy and help others. Food banks, hospitals, nursing homes, and many other operations are always looking for people to help during this season.

🧑‍🍳 Bake Spirits Bright

Bake something this weekend! You don’t have to go all-out on recipes, but holiday baking is an essential Christmas tradition. Ask your family to put on their ugliest sweaters, play Christmas music, and make a night out of it.

🍿 Have a Pajama Movie Night

Have everyone put on their most festive holiday pajamas, pop some popcorn, and watch a Christmas movie! There’s nothing like a classic Christmas movie to get you in the mood for the season.

💡Look at Holiday Lights

Check if any holiday light displays are happening around you! Some displays are walk-throughs, while others you can drive through. You can also drive around neighborhoods to see whose house is the best decorated.

♠️ Have a Family Game Night

There’s nothing more classic than a family game night, with pajamas optional. Grab some board games and start a tournament with everyone.

🫚 Gingerbread House Competition

Grab a bunch of gingerbread house kits at the store and have your family members make one! You might have to help the littles on this one, or not and see what their brilliant minds create.
